Project description
The aim of the project is to develop a workflow for the passive seismic analysis of 2.5D node data for the exploration of deep geothermal potential. The project will investigate the capabilities of modern autonomous seismic sensors (‘nodes’), which continuously collect data and can therefore also capture cross-line information in 2D seismic projects. In addition to recording short-term active stimuli, the nodes will record signals from a wide variety of ‘ambient noise’ sources (traffic, earthquakes, ocean waves, etc.). Furthermore, the project will, for the first time, combine active and passive seismic techniques with edge computing and artificial intelligence to create an integrated, adaptive 2.5D exploration system.
The project is funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and is carried out in collaboration with two further company partners.
