Project description
As part of the planned expansion of the quarry in Peggau, the site is being modernised and geared towards digital, future-oriented raw material production. The aim is to make mining more efficient, sustainable and easier to plan, taking into account geological, technical and ecological aspects.
Place: Peggau; Styria; Austria
Client/Contractor: Alpacem Austria GmbH
Performance period: since 2024
GEODATA services:
Our on-site services include comprehensive geophysical investigations using geoelectrics and seismics: In the expansion area, they provide important information about the nature of the subsoil, such as the thickness and rock quality of the sedimentary layers. This enables precise mining planning. Within the existing mining area, our measurements also identified geological features such as clay lenses and converted them into digital 3D models. In addition, we are working with our measurement technology department to conduct continuous vibration monitoring in the nearby Lurgrotte (Austria’s largest water-filled show cave). Using fibre optic cables for data transmission, we continuously monitor the vibrations caused by blasting – with the aim of protecting this important natural monument in the long term.
