Thessaloniki Metro & Extension to Kalamaria

Project description: 

The basic project consists of a 9.6 km long underground line with 13 stations and a depot in Pylea. The 2-tube single-track tunnels were excavated using TBMs. The extension to Kalamaria is 4.8 km long and has 5 stations. This section was also driven using 2 TBMs. The line is operated with fully automatic, driverless and air-conditioned trains of the latest technology.

GEODATA services: 

Geodata was commissioned by the construction consortia with the entire monitoring. The task focussed on monitoring the buildings on the surface, some of which were ancient monuments. This included inclinometer and extensometer measurements from the surface and the installation of numerous GeoRobots for the automatic monitoring of 3D deformations and settlement monitoring. An essential part was risk management with automated data acquisition and alarming. This challenge was successfully managed using our KRONOS tunnel information platform.
